 This industry report examines the workforce data, characteristics and trends that define the Construction sector within the Greater Portland-Vancouver area. With over 77,000 jobs and a payroll of $6.8 billion, Construction accounts for nearly seven percent of the Portland-Vancouver metro area’s private-sector employment and seven percent of payroll. With over 70,000 jobs and a payroll of $3.9 billion, Construction accounts for over 5 percent of the greater Portland region’s private-sector employment and 6 percent of total payroll. The Construction sector contributed approximately $7.9 billion to the metro area’s Gross Domestic Product in 2020; 7 percent of all output.

The 2022 report shows significant growth in the industry and indicates that workforce development efforts are helping to support its success.
