Youth Outcomes

Our Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) resources to serve youth are invested through NextGen, a system of nine service providers managed by Worksystems with expertise in serving a diverse population of disconnected and low-income youth. The service providers currently contracted with Worksystems are Home Forward, Impact NW, Immigrant Refugee Community Organization (IRCO), Latino Newtork/Centro Cultural, New Avenues for Youth, Portland Youth Builders, Oregon Human Development Corporation, Portland Opportunities Industrialization Center (POIC), Hillsboro School District.

Our investments prepare youth for career-ladder employment through degree or credential attainment, work readiness training, career exploration, career path employment or to post-secondary education. Each NextGen participant is connected with a career coach to establish and achieve education and employment goals. Scholarships are currently available for training for positions in Healthcare, Manufacturing, Information Technology, and Construction. Other NextGen services include workforce preparation/ essential skills training, career exploration, leadership development, financial literacy, GED/Diploma completion support and assistance in finding employment or enrolling in Post-Secondary training. NextGen operates in multiple sites across the City of Portland, Multnomah and Washington Counties.
