Kurt is responsible for managing the region's Rapid Response Team which provides comprehensive support to workers impacted by mass layoffs to quickly connect them to training and employment. He also coordinates the National Career Readiness Certificate program and the Certified Work Ready Communities initiative.
Kurt began his career in education and workforce development in 1967 after graduating from Lewis & Clark College with a Bachelor's in English. He has worked as an English teacher at Hood River HS and taught Adult Basic Education/GED classes at Mt. Hood Community College. He was the Educational Coordinator for 11 years at POIC before moving on to a position at the Private Industry Council where he managed a national demonstration project for at-risk youth from 1986-1996. Kurt then worked at the Youth Employment Institute's out-of-school program before joining Worksystems in 1998.
Kurt's interests include photography and a love of collecting and listening to a wide range of music, especially vinyl records. He enjoys spending time with his friends and family, including three wonderful grandsons.
