WDB Member Pam Treece Travels to DC in Support of Workforce Development

April 14th, 2017

Workforce Development Board member Pam Treece traveled to DC as part of a Washington County delegation to meet with elected officials and discussed the importance of funding to support workforce development. She stressed the need to continue funding programs that support training skilled workers in our region. The theme of the discussion was a quote from Ronald Reagan, "The best social service program is a job." The challenge we face is to have a trained workforce that meets the skill requirements of today's job market so job seekers can be successfully matched to open positions in the Portland Metro area. She emphasized that in our region, investments in workforce development have a return of $1.72 for every $1 spent and this funding is critical to keeping our labor market strong.

Pam was accompanied by WDB members James Paulson, Travis Stovall, and Washington County Commissioner Roy Rogers. They met with Congressman Greg Walden, Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici, Senator Ron Wyden and staff from Senator Jeff Merkley's office.

We are grateful for the support and advocacy of our WDB members!
