New Statewide Eviction Moratorium Announced

December 18th, 2020

In December, the Oregon Legislature passed HB 4401, which extends the eviction moratorium on non-payment of rent to July 1, 2021. This means that with limited exceptions, landlords cannot evict renters for non-payment without cause until July of 2021. Tenants must file a form with their landlord to qualify for the protections.

The Oregon Law Center is hosting a training on Jan. 6 on the new eviction moratorium. Register here.

Multnomah County also voted to extend the current state of emergency, which extends the moratorium on residential evictions for nonpayment of rent and provides for a six-month repayment grace period for back rent owed.
