Healthcare

The health services industry includes establishments ranging from small-town private practices of physicians who employ a small workforce to busy inner-city hospitals that provide thousands of diverse jobs. In 2005, Oregon's health services industry employed more than 153,250 workers, who made up 9.3 percent of total industry employment. Hospital employment contributed to over 55,180 jobs, or 36 percent of the state's health care workforce. Nursing and residential care facilities ran a close second at 25 percent. Offices of physicians employed the third largest at 16 percent.
