Equal Opportunity and Accessibility
WorkSource Portland Metro Centers, formerly One Stop Centers, are designed to be universally accessible. To
ensure that all interested job seekers have access to the same resources
and have the same opportunity to compete for job openings, we are
continuously refining our system so that people with greater barriers
to employment are effectively served. Click on the links below to
see some of our efforts.
Services to Limited English Speakers
Over the past few years the region has seen an
increase in immigrant populations from all over the world, but especially
from countries where Russian, Vietnamese, and Spanish are spoken.
Additionally, a significant proportion of workers laid off in recent
years speak English as a second language. To ensure our system is
accessible to everyone, we have:
-
Hired more bilingual Career Specialists. Clients can now be
served in Russian, Vietnamese, Chinese, French, and Spanish;
-
Focused on developing job opportunities for limited English
job seekers, which has increased placement rates;
-
Begun delivering workshops in languages other than English;
-
Instituted marketing campaigns to inform partner agencies
and the broader community of services available to customers
whose first language is not English;
- Translated our application packages into four languages (Russian,
Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese); and
Information about our services is available in Spanish,
Russian, Vietnamese & Chinese.
