PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY

Low Income:
Income eligibility is determined on an individual basis; it is based on the number of family members and income in the past six months.

Selective Service Registration:
Males born on or after January 1, 1961 (and at least 18 years of age), must register for selective service if required.

Employment Barrier:
All participants in ARRA, WIA programs must also meet ­one of these characteristics that may cause barriers to employment:

  • At risk of dropping out of school
  • Deficient in basic literacy skills
  • Gang Involved or Affected
  • Homeless, runaway or foster child
  • Juvenile Justice Department Involvement/Offender
  • Limited English Proficient
  • One or more disabilities, including learning disability
  • One or more grade level behind appropriate level for age
  • Pregnant or parenting
  • School dropout

     

    Work Attitude:
    Each Youth applying for the Summer Jobs Program will be assessed for their work attitude/readiness. This will be done during the application/eligibility process and participation in the Work Readiness Training.

    Each youth application is processed on an individual basis to determine eligibility and Youth SummerWorks Program qualifications.
